Frank Flournoy Hamburger, Jr., 93, of Columbus, GA, died Sunday, January 7, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father Jeremiah McCarthy officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907. The rosary will be said Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM with visitation to follow at the funeral home.

Frank Flournoy Hamburger, Jr., 93, of Columbus, GA, died Sunday, January 7, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital.

Mr. Hamburger was born January 14, 1924 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Frank Flournoy and Elizabeth Grier Hamburger. He retired from Swift Textiles after 28 years, The Rothschild Company after 18 years of service and was a successful realtor for over 20 years.
Mr. Hamburger was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was assigned to the 65th Infantry Division and was a Rifle Platoon Leader. During his service he was awarded the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a member of the Holocaust Counsel, had two battle stars, and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He was a 1947 graduate of Auburn University and a life member of the Auburn Alumni Association. He was a member of Columbus Country Club where he was an avid golfer, and served on the Girls Club Board for many years. He was also a faithful member of St. Anne Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamburger was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Grier Hamburger.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Isla H. Hamburger of Columbus, GA; two daughters, Becky H. Swift of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, and Kathryn Warren and her husband, Davis, of Atlanta, GA; three granddaughters, Kathryn Rhodes Hines and her husband, Greg of Prattville, AL, Ansley Buck of Atlanta, GA and Lauren Buck Bryant and her husband, Justin, of Columbus, GA; four great grandchildren, Alex Hines, Jackson Hines, Buck Bryant and Kylie Bryant; Numerous cousins and friends.
