Helen Carolyn Hamby Edwards, 88 of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Brookside Glen Assisted Living.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia with Mike Joyner officiating. Family will visit with friends Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Helen Carolyn Hamby Edwards, 88 of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Brookside Glen Assisted Living.

Mrs. Helen was born in Elmore County Alabama to the late Harvey V. Wilson and the late Verna Mae Johnson Wilson. Mrs. Helen worked at First Federal Savings & Loan which became Barnett Bank. After her retirement from the bank she was very active in her community for over 20 years volunteering at Valley Rescue Mission and the Christmas Store, she lead crafts at Camp Joy and she was a volunteer at "The Farm". Mrs. Helen was a volunteer at Martin Army Community Hospital for many years as well where she crocheted caps and booties for newborns for over ten years. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Other than her parents she is also preceded in death by her husbands, Homer Hamby and Leland Edwards, her sons, Homer David Hamby and Richard Wilson Hamby. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves her legacy to her granddaughter, Joy Anderson, grandson Chuck Hamby and his wife Allison, her two great granddaughters, Lindsay Anderson and Hattie Hamby to cherish her loving memory.
