Irene, daughter of the late William Harold Dalton and Helen Elizabeth Davis Dalton, was born June 11, 1936 in Methuen, Massachusetts. Irene attended Fisher Junior College and the University of Massachusetts where she met her husband, the late Col. Alan B. Pickett, D.D.S. During the early years of their marriage, Irene worked for Western Electric to pay her husbands way through Dental School. Soon after, Irene became a devoted U.S. Army wife and mother, where she moved around the United States and Europe where her husband's work as a military officer took her and her family. In 1985, Dr. And Mrs. Pickett retired and returned to Columbus, GA. During their retirement years, Irene enjoyed quilting, camping, reading, china painting, and volunteering at Callaway Gardens. She was preceded in her death by her husband, father, mother and brother, William Harold Dalton and survived by her son, Alan John Pickett and his wife Ann of Richmond, Virginia; daughter, Karen Alaine Webb of Tuscaloosa, Al; sister-in-law, Joy Dalton; sister-in-law, Linda and her husband Dr. James Kelley; and her grandchildren, John Dalton Pickett, Kailyn Jessica Webb, and Samuel Hays Webb.
