Mrs. June "Nana" Ritsuko McNeil, age 79, passed away on October 31, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus with burial to follow at Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Mrs. June "Nana" Ritsuko McNeil, age 79, passed away on October 31, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus with burial to follow at Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

June was born on March 28, 1932 to the late Arata and Iseno Noda in Kyushu, Japan. She was known to many as the "neighborhood mother", having raised eight children of her own, she was a wonderful role model for her children and anyone who knew her. Nana, as many people called her, was always smiling and giggling, and enjoyed life to the fullest. She attended New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, before her health declined. June was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel J. McNeil, a son, Edward J. McNeil and two brothers, Takashi Noda and Mitsugu Noda.

Survivors include her seven children, Maria Burnley of Columbus, James P. McNeil of Columbus, Grace J. Gividen (John) of Louisville, KY, Diane M. Archie (Marshall) of Columbus, Pauline C. Graberek (Eddie) of Chicago, IL, Rita P. McCall (David) of Buford, GA and Evelyn F. Smith of Columbus; nine grandchildren, B.J. Kavanaugh, Tiffany McAbee, Lauren McNeil, Miles Archie, A.J. Coito, Billy Burnley, Caitlin McCall, Jessica McCall and Lindsey McCall; a great-grandchild, Dominic McAbee and her loving caregivers, Doris Franklin and Nellie Henderson.
